I
first became
aware of
solar energy in the
early 1980's , when Jimmy
Carter got
the Windfall Profits Tax passed. I sold solar hot water systems for
Reynolds Aluminium, in New England. We had a program where we took
about a hundred dollars off the price of the system, if the homeowner
would record the temperature of the water leaving the solar heated
storage tank, and entering the customer's back-up water heater. ( We
placed a temperature gauge in line for this purpose).
We went
back after 2 weeks to get the
daily readings, which we used as a sales aid. The homeowners couldn't
believe that in the winter in New England their existing back-up water
heaters, had almost never fired off.The Solar Heated Water was
hotter than
their heater
was set at.They were amazed at the gas
or electric they were saving!!
For the past 30
plus years, I
have worked in natural and propane (L.P. gas) industry. I am
trained in L.P. conversions of gasoline engines and several
of my
personal vehicles run on propane and gasoline. I simply flip a switch
to change from one to the other, and can do so while driving.
My opinion on ways to produce solar and wind energy and alternative
fuels for vehicles, is from years of practical experience. I've
made a small solar panel, it is a charger for my elecric gate battery,
and also charges vehicle batteries when needed.
I've
purchased some of the info products for solar and wind power, and
making bio-diesel fuel. Be very careful what you buy. . Check out the
link that you'll find at the bottom and on the right
side of this page. These are by far the most informative products for
the Do-It Yourself Alternative Energy Enthusiast. Even though I've made
my pick look at them all, and decide for yourself.
Maybe you'll be able to lessen your carbon footprint and put some money
back in your pocket by producing some or all of your electricity, and
see how easy it is to make bio-diesel and learn more about alternative
fuels .
